PIOFINE (Pty) Ltd is a Botswana based Diamond processing Company, duly licensed by the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.
The Company was founded by Austrian precision engineer, Erwin Happel, who started manufacturing Diamond Tools in 1986 in Johannesburg, South Africa, after being awarded its Diamond License.
The Company took advantage of the efforts of the Botswana government through its Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, based in Johannesburg, to facilitate foreign direct investment in the diamond sector.
After many years of successful engagement and development in the diamond industry, and holding various patents, PIOFINE was eager to utilize the high quality and quantity of Industrial grade Diamonds mined in Botswana, and thus started business in Botswana in 2000, and has since established a new Diamond Processing plant in Otse Industrial, some 45km South of the capital, Gaborone.
Apart from the new 1000sqm state of the art manufacturing facility which was completed in 2010, a new training facility is currently
being prepared to equip graduates from the local education system with the skills of diamond tool making. This is in line with the Vision 2016 goals of the Botswana Government,
to create downstream beneficiation within the Diamond Industry.
The vast majority of Diamonds mined are of "Industrial Grade". Uniform grown crystals, and being the hardest material on earth, makes them a sought-after commodity for Precision Diamond tools world-wide.
The Company is currently procuring Natural Industrial grade diamonds from Kimberley Process Certification Scheme compliant producers world-wide for processing into tools and for trade.
Our range of products manufactured covers a vast range of Diamond Tooling required by Industry.
To mention a few, some of our most important products include drilling crowns in the mining sector for mineral exploration, gas, coal, and oil-well drilling, the construction and glass industry, as well as the automotive and engineering industry.
PIOFINE has also proved itself in the manufacturing and development of tools made from synthetic diamond compacts (Polycrystalline Diamond - "PCD") and other ultra-hard materials like Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride - "PCBN".
PIOFINE strives to become one of the leading downstream beneficiation enterprises in the region, utilizing these natural industrial diamonds in export quality tools.
Our aim for the future is to replicate the concept of local beneficiation to the region.
